Over a hundred Gladiators participated in the second Pep Rally of this academic year, and what a night it was! Athletics and Student Services departments organized the now-traditional Gladiators Night in honor of the upcoming matches against Rome Tre and the Università Cattolica.
The event was graced with the presence of Dean Wiegers, our mascot Maximus, and our Cheerleaders, who performed before and during the break between the two halves of each game. Fans had the chance to sing, support their teammates, eat delicious pizza, and celebrate the victories of the women’s soccer team, who defeated Rome Tre by a whopping 10-2 scoreline.
Just minutes later, they also witnessed the men’s soccer team‘s crucial draw, as they managed to equalize thanks to a penalty scored by Giorgio Castellani and another saved by our goalkeeper Giuseppe Orsini, despite being a goal down. Coach Marian was proud of his team’s efforts, saying,
The team fought hard in a very difficult match and remained united. Despite the lack of experience among many of the players, they were able to achieve fourth place. Congratulations, guys. This is just the beginning.
It was a night of celebration and pride for JCU and its colors. This week, there are big events lined up, including tonight’s last basketball game of the regular season with a cheerleading performance at San Paolo, and the women’s soccer game against Sapienza Sport on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the men’s soccer team will host Erasmus in the quarterfinals, and transportation will be provided for all supporters (the game will take place at Petriana Court).
So come out and cheer for your Gladiators! It’s a time for the entire JCU community to unite and show their support for our teams as they strive for victory!
