Last night, our Gladiators Men’s Soccer Team 11 vs 11 played a very though game against Link Campus University (LCU) as part of the Universities of Rome Championship.
The first half of the game saw our Gladiators in a favorable and offensive position, constantly pressing the LCU team. JCU led most of the first half of the game in the opposing area, which resulted in JCU head start with our Gladiator José Ortega scoring on a penalty kick.
Thanks to his good game tactics both in the offensive and defensive positions and his willing to sacrifice for team, Josè was also elected as the MVP of this match. Congratulations Josè! You really deserved this recognition!
Another player worth mentioning in this game is Adil Kaizulla, our new Men’s Soccer team goalkeeper. Yesterday, Adil made his first debut with the Gladiators shirt, and even though he played for just a few minutes, he was able to prove immediately his courage and determination on the field, also saving the goal from one of the LCU players’ kick. So congrats, Adil and welcome to the team!
In the second half of the game, however, LCU reacted, breaking up JCU lead, and they ended up winning the game.
Despite our Gladiators lost 4-1, they fought hard until the end, giving the impression that the team is there, and it can definitely grow with more practice. The coach Riccardo Concari seemed to be very positive because each player in the team is working hard, showing great commitment both during training and during the game. And we are sure that our Gladiators Men’s Soccer team will soon be able to bring home a series of victories. So stay focused, Gladiators!
