What an exceptional experience for JCU Women’s Futsal team who, for the first time ever, had the opportunity to participate in an international tournament in Athens and open a breach for future JCU Athletics international collaboration in sports events.
The ACG 2018 International Sports Festival, organized by the Athletics Department of the American College of Greece in Athens, took place from Wednesday, March 28th until Friday, March 30th. A great sports events that brought together many universities in a fun and sociable atmosphere.

Every college could choose to compete in different sports, including Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Futsal, Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming, Water Polo, Rugby.
We were honored to participate with our Women’s Futsal team who put their hearts in every single game and gave their best, earning an important 2nd place.

Our Lady Gladiators played amazingly and proved to be a team that can be competitive even internationally. However, their road to the 2nd place was not all flowers and rainbows.
After a great start, which saw JCU defeating HU 0-2, our Lady Gladiators ended up with a tie 1-1 against LAU BE and a loss 6-2 against LAU BY. But our strong women reacted in their last game, winning 3-0 against ACG and conquering the 2nd place thanks to the less numbers of goals received in all the games.

Taking part in the ACG 2018 International Sports Festival was an amazing experience. Not only was the organization of the tournament flawless, but it also represented for us an opportunity to network and meet new people in the collegiate sports with whom we share the same goals and passion.
Our Lady Gladiators had a great time, and we will definitely come back next year with the aim of taking more of our JCU teams.
With this tournament, JCU Athletics has opened an important door within the international collegiate sports arena, and we hope this can be only the first step to widen our horizons and represent John Cabot University internationally.
