JCU Coed Volleyball Plays Last Game in the Oroverde Tournament

On Monday, April 29, our Spring-2019 Coed Volleyball team took the field for their last game of the semester against Aurelio Volleyball (AV).

After a very well-fought match, AV was able to gain the upper hand over our JCU, winning 3-2 [20-25; 14-25; 25-21; 25-23; 8-15]. Despite the loss, though, all of our Gladiators gave proof of the great improvements that they have been able to make during only four months.

The first two sets, JCU is immediately down 0-2 against a team who seemed confident enough and hard to defeat.

“Unfortunately, we had important absences like Veronica and Flaminia who got injured during the warm-up,” coach Papari pointed out. “For a moment, I thought of seeing again the team like it was at the beginning of the semester, but luckily I was wrong, and we were able to get back into the game from the third set.”

In the third set, JCU reacted and started to play seriously by taking control of the game and winning 25-21.

Keeping the positive attitude, JCU also took home the fourth set, winning 25-23 and tied up the result, 2-2.

At the tie break, our Gladiators tried their best, but AV had that extra energy, which allowed them to win the game.

“I am happy with how we played last night,” Papari continued. “I saw a good team who fought well. Despite we were losing, we never gave up for a second, and the result still showed it.”

Congratulations, Gladiators!
