After the exceptional performance in the Universities of Rome Championship against AUR/Polo Didattico last week, JCU Coed Volleyball team was busy in the Oroverde Tournament yesterday, trying to take over Alpi team. But unfortunately, our Gladiators weren’t able to repeat themselves, losing 1-3.
“Despite our efforts, the game went in one direction as the result confirms,” coach Stefano Papari commented at the end of the game. “The opposing team had really valid components, and it proved to be a solid team and well organized.”
Then, Stefano continued, “We still walked out of the game with our heads high, also considering the fact that most of our players are currently out of the games due to physical problems.”
A special thank-you recognition goes to Veronica Rusich, the former Captain of the team, who is momentarily out of the season due to a serious physical injury. Despite she is not actually playing in the games, she still represents a fundamental character in the team, giving great contribution to her fellow Gladiators and helping the coach in the more technical aspects of the games.
Thank you, Veronica from the team, the coach, and the entire JCU Athletics Department. We are sure that you are going to be back stronger than ever, and we look forward to seeing you out on the field soon!
The MVP recognition for this game goes, instead, to Jake Swanson. Jake, a study abroad student at John Cabot, showed great commitment since the beginning, and his hard work is paying off. Yesterday, he proved it in the game, playing a very good match. Congratulations, Jake! Keep it up!
Next Coed Volleyball appointment is the Universities of Rome Championship on March 28th at 8:00 pm where our Gladiators will face Foro Italico team in an exciting returning game.
