Great Start for JCU Men’s Basketball at Universities of Rome Championship BK3

Two out of two victories for JCU Men’s Basketball last night in the first round of the Universities of Rome Championship BK3.

This year, the tournament sees a considerable number of teams enrolled. Eight universities – John Cabot University (JCU), Università La Sapienza (ULS), Università Europea di Roma (UER), Università Foro Italico (UFI), The American University of Rome (AUR), Università degli Studi Roma 3 (UR3), Educatt (UCSC), Unicusano (UNC), will battle on the court to become the new team champion.

The championship is divided into four different rounds in which all the teams will play two short games of ten minutes each. In this round, our Gladiators have faced ULS and UNC.

JCU vs La Sapienza – BK3

First game of the night is against ULS. JCU dominates the game shooting efficiently and defending well. The opponents don’t find many chances at scoring thanks to JCU tactics and good movement of the ball in the area. Our Gladiators close the game quickly, getting to 12 points even before the estimated duration of the game. The match ends 12-6 for JCU.

JCU vs UNC – BK3

In the second game, JCU plays against UNC, but this time, our Gladiators struggle more to take home the victory. The first minutes of the game is fought head to head. JCU defense commits a few mistakes that allow UNC to shoot and score. Luck isn’t also on our Gladiators’ side in the first part with JCU attempts at scoring that doesn’t seem to go right. But our Gladiators are suddenly able to unblock the game, preventing the opponents to easily shoot and taking them to four fouls. JCU wins on the final buzzer with the result of 12-7.

Congratulations, Gladiators!
