JCU Men’s Soccer Sweeps LSU and Bounces to the Top of the Ranking

JCU Men’s Soccer celebrates another victory last night in the Universities of Rome Championship against La Sapienza University (LSU). Our Gladiators play an excellent game and prove again their talent and great character by winning with a remarkable result of 6-1.

After few minutes in the game, JCU immediately finds the leading goal with a steadfast Haddad who powerfully punches the opponents’ goal. In the remaining first half, JCU drops the rhythm a little bit and wastes numerous opportunities to increase the advantage and safeguard the result of the game.

Our Gladiators, however, play a stronger reprise and get back on the field more focused and determined in the second half. JCU is unstoppable and and sets up a solid pressing that is hard for LSU to control. Donnini doubles the score and then Castellani takes the result to 3-0.

On a 3-0 result, LSU shows a moment of reaction and scores, but that doesn’t worry our Gladiators who keep kicking fireballs and increase the score gap with another goal by Castellani and a double by Ortega.

“We didn’t play an excellent first half; we committed a few individual mistakes that became synonym of a team who didin’t really understand the importance of the game,” coach Concari points out. “The second half, however, was another story, and we started playing seriously, and the results proved it.”

“I also want to congratulate to the players who hasn’t played much in the past games, but last night, they came down to the field prepared and gave a very good performance,” Concari concludes.

Luca Ottati #8 – MVP of the game

MEN’S 5vs5 SOCCER
If on one hand our Men’s Soccer team is celebrating its win, on the other hand, our Men’s 5vs5 Soccer team is struggling a little bit to find its winning shot.

Last-night game sees the victory of Polo Didattico Bambin Gesù (PDG) over JCU for 4-6. However, regardless of the result, our Gladiators have proved their progress on the field, especially in the first half where our Gladiators temporarily overturn the result and take the lead thanks to a double by Vigilante.

In the second half, JCU is also able to score other two goals by Christmann, but it is not enough to overcome the opponents who win the game with six goals.

“We are improving enormously. The fact that we score more compared to the previous games proves it,” coach Franceschi comments. “We played really well at times, but we still have a few weakness on the defensive side that we need to work on, especially with the new players, to prevent the other team to score easily.”

C’mon Gladiators! We know it’s hard, but we trust you and your potential, and we are sure that if you keep committing yourselves and working hard, you will achieve better results soon!
