JCU Hosts Second-Round Universities BK3

Exciting night at Petriana, our basketball home turf where the second round of the Universities of Rome Championship BK3 took place yesterday.

Large participation from eight different universities who battled on the court to try and seize the first place in the ranking.

In the first round, JCU earned two victories against La Sapienza and UniCusano, which immediately placed our Gladiators at the top of the ranking with 6 points together with Foro Italico University and Educatt.

Last night was, indeed, a face-off between the top teams. JCU played the first game against Educatt and won 8-5 but fell to UFI, 12-9, which is also last-Season team Champion.

“Our defense is always efficient and works well, but we need to improve on the offensive side. And the more we will play the more we will be able to find better penetrating solutions in the area to finalize the shot,” coach Serraino pointed out.

Overall, our Gladiators gave a good performance, and all the players gave a significant contribution. Special mention goes to Preston Corral because he was able to stand out as a playmaker during the time that he played.

These are the current standings after the second round:
FORO ITALICO – 12
JOHN CABOT – 9
AMERICAN UNIVERSITY – 6
EDUCATT – 6
EUROPEA DI ROMA – 6
UNICUSANO – 6
ROMA TRE – 3
LA SAPIENZA – 0

At the moment, only 3 points divide JCU from the top team, so we can’t wait for the next round in March where our Gladiators will attempt to grasp the first place!

Good job, Gladiators! Keep it up!
