The new JCU Athletics Sports Calendar for Fall 2019 is now officially out!! Many sports activities to choose from that will help you get fit and take out the most out of your JCU experience!
JCU FITNESS CENTER
Our JCU Fitness Center is open to all enrolled students, and it is located in the Gianicolo Residence (Vicolo della Penitenza, 26). It is open Monday – Thusday from 8:00am to 10:00pm and Friday – Sunday from 10:00am to 8:00pm.
We also offer a variety of Fitness Classes throughout the day. All the classes are taught by professional sports instructors and don’t require any prior registration, except for Aikido.
The Fitness Center as well as our fitness classes are free of charge, but an Italian physical is required to attend the gym and join the activities. All the students can take a basic physical examination with our doctor by reserving their spot at the Athletics Table during Orientation. The cost of the physical is €20.
For those who would like to experience more competitive sports, JCU Athletics offers the chance to join our varsity teams:
- MEN’S SOCCER
- WOMEN’S 5vs5 SOCCER
- MEN’S 5vs5 SOCCER
- COED VOLLEYBALL
- MEN’S BASKETBALL
JCU varsity teams compete in the Universities of Rome Championship plus other external tournaments. Every semester, some of the teams have also the chance to compete in international tournaments, such as the ACG International Sports Festival in Athens and the World InterUniversities Championship in Barcelona. This Fall, we will head to Pula, Croatia.
To join our teams, you will have to take part in the tryouts, which will begin on September 2nd until September 12th. Read below the updated schedule of the tryouts

If you make it to the team, you will then be requested to take a competitive physical examination with our doctor on campus, which costs €30.
If you want to have fun and test your skills in other sports, JCU Athletics also organizes the following intramurals:
- TABLE TENNIS (September 17 – Guarini Campus)
- TENNIS (October 4 – Tennis Sport Libero)
- GREEN VOLLEYBALL (October 11 – Trastevere Stadium)
JCU Athletics also offers several sports trips around Italy. During these trips, you will have the chance to travel and discover the natural wonders of our country by hiking, biking, kayaking, snorkeling, and much more! What better way to stay in shape and enjoy Italian traditions?
