JCU Coed Volleyball Battles AUR but Falls 1-2 in Derby Match

It was an intese derby game last night between JCU Coed Volleyball team and The American University of Rome (AUR) in the University of Rome Championship. The two teams fought point to point, but it was AUR that ultimately found the winning set and defeated our Gladiators, 1-2.

JCU started strong and focused in the first set, committing few mistakes and anticipating well AUR plays. Our Gladiators took home the first set, winning 25-21.

In the second set, the opponents had a powerful reaction and performed more offensive tactics that put JCU in difficulty. AUR won the second set 14-25.

On 1-1 set result, the game was all open. AUR immediately took the lead. JCU was able to maintain a short score gap, but it was not enough to overturn the result. AUR won the last set, 20-25.

“Overall, we played a good a game, but we still lack the necessary experience to deal with more difficult situations and control the tension,” coach Papari commented at the end of the game. “Regardless of the result, I am happy because I see significant improvements every week, and I am sure that we will accomplish better results in the future.”

C’mon, Gladiators! Don’t lose hope and keep working hard!
