Last night… the 2017 Athletics varsity sports season was officially ‘opened’ with a great ceremony featuring our fantastic speakers President Pavoncello, Caroline Thomas representing Student Government, Michele Massi and Jonah Mayer presenting the new Gladiators Fan Club, and the revealing of our new Gladiator MASCOT!
All of our varsity sports teams represented JCU at the ceremony by wearing their uniforms, and we presented the new men’s 11v11 jersey! Overall, the kickoff was a great start to what we think will be a very successful and fun sports season for John Cabot University.
After the ceremony, all three of our soccer teams played in friendly games at Trastevere Stadium! The men’s 11v11 team tied against Erasmus in Campus 5-5, while the Lady Gladiators played against the American University of Rome and won, 8-1.Β Our men’s 5v5 team also played against the American University of Rome and tied, 3-3.
Although these were only friendly games, we were incredibly proud to see our players give these games incredible effort, and show some real Gladiator spirit! Perhaps it was due to the help of the Gladiator mascot, that cheered for the players at the games π either way, we are really looking forward to getting this season started with matches against other universities of Rome!
