TEAM JCU Runs for a Cause at the Komen Race for the Cure 2026

Last Sunday, May 10, the streets of Rome once again turned pink for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, bringing together thousands of participants united by one mission: supporting the fight against breast cancer.

Among the crowd, TEAM JCU proudly represented John Cabot University, continuing a tradition of community, solidarity, and sport that has become a meaningful part of the university spirit over the years.

From students and staff members to alumni and former Gladiators, TEAM JCU showed up with enthusiasm, energy, and a shared commitment to making a difference. The event was not only an opportunity to support breast cancer research and awareness, but also a powerful reminder of how sport can unite people around a greater cause.

The day began with a light breakfast together near campus before the team headed toward the race area, where the excitement quickly became contagious. Walking toward the starting line surrounded by hundreds of thousands of participants created a truly unforgettable atmosphere, one filled with positivity, hope, and collective purpose.

Former JCU student and longtime supporter of JCU Athletics, Nicholas Modlin, once again led TEAM JCU during the event. Reflecting on the experience, he shared:

“Leading Team JCU in the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure once again was a true pleasure! I have always appreciated how Team JCU brings together students, staff, and alumni to support the fight against breast cancer while embracing the practice of sport.”

The participation of TEAM JCU also highlighted the continued dedication of the Gladiator community to giving back through athletics and community engagement. Every runner, donor, and supporter contributed to keeping this important tradition alive, helping the movement grow year after year.

Special thanks also go to Nicholas Modlin for his continuous support of the Gladiators and for being part of another memorable Race for the Cure experience.

As the race came to an end, one thing was clear: TEAM JCU once again demonstrated the power of coming together for something bigger than ourselves. Congratulations to all the Gladiators who participated — your energy, generosity, and spirit made this year’s race another meaningful success.

Until next year, TEAM JCU! 💗
