JCU Women’s 5on5 Soccer Wins Easily Against LCE

Now that Spring Break is over, we are finally back on track for the last and most important part of the 2018/2019 Sports Season, and we couldn’t start in a better way. Last night, the Universities of Rome Championship saw as protagonist our JCU Women’s 5on5 Soccer team who defeated, 23-0 Link Campus Erasmus (LCE).

It was an easy game for our Lady Gladiators who immediately took the lead and were already winning 11-0 at the end of the first half.

Even though LCE players showed good enthusiasm, they are a very young team who still needs solid trainings. LCE made any effort to keep up with our ladies’ pace, having the chance to score twice during the game. However, there was nothing to do for our rival who had to give in to JCU higher soccer level.

“It was not a tough game,” JCU captain Diana Fantauzzi commented. “There were only six of us playing tonight, but we still gave our best. Our official goalkeeper was also absent, and most of us had the chance to test our skills as goalkeepers, and that was fun!”

Last night, our JCU player Maria Vittoria Albezzano was also back on the field, supporting her teammates after having surgery due to a serious injury of her knee.

“Even though Veve still can’y play, we were happy to have her back with us. Ad we want to dedicate tonight’s victory to her,” Fantauzzi concluded.

And we also can’t wait to see Maria Vittoria playing and blocking like she only can. JCU Athletics wishes you a speed recovery!

Great job on your win, ladies!
