JCU Coed Volleyball Fights but Stumbles Against UFI

On Wednesday, March 6th, JCU Coed Volleyball team was in action again in the Universities of Rome Championship. Our Gladiators faced the University of Foro Italico (UFI) for the second-round game, but same as last time, JCU suffered a 3-0 loss [18-25; 19-25; 22-25].

Contrary to the last game, though, JCU fought hard and played well, missing the chance to win all three sets only by a few points.

“This was an important game, so I decided to line up the same team for the entire game,” coach Papari pointed out. “Even though, we didn’t win, the team played really well, and we found good conclusions that put our opponents in trouble more than once.”

All three sets saw a real battle on the court, with the two teams attacking and blocking well. JCU performed extremely efficient serves, which didn’t allow UFI to attack on the ball and score. However, UFI had two excellent attackers who were hard to stop.

In this way, UFI was able to bring home those extra points that let them win the game.

“You can tell that UFI is definitely a team that is more used to play compared to us, and they know how to play,” Papari added. “But despite that, we showed that we can also prove our point in the game. We played well, and I hope that after Spring Break, we will be finally able to have our chance at winning since we will also have less games and more practice.”

Good job, Gladiators! Keep working hard because you need determination, teamwork, and commitment if you want to improve and win!
