…More about Coach Manuel

1. What do you like the most about coaching at JCU?
One thing I love about being a coach at JCU is the multiculturalism that I always find. It is good to see students coming from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds creating a cohesive team.

2. What is the biggest challenge you have ever encountered while coaching at JCU?
My biggest challenge is to teach the basics of Futsal to students who have never practiced it before. Futsal is not as popular as Soccer, and the tactics and plays are very different from classic Soccer, so it is often hard to teach students how to play it, especially those who have a Soccer background. However, seeing that the students learn what you tell them is also my biggest reward.Β

3. What do you expect in your players? What is the most important characteristic they should have?
I expect my players to show some growth both on a sports and moral level at the end of the Season. The Division we play in right now does not require to have specific technical characteristics, the important thing is for them to always have a positive attitude and show respect for their teammates, opponents, but most of all, for themselves.

4. Any comments about last Season? What did you do well and what could have been done better?
Overall, we had a good Season. We lacked a bit of continuity that would have probably helped us earn a better ranking position. We proved to be a very good team in more than one occasion. I am confident enough that we are going to do much better next year.

5. What are your goals for next Season?
My goal for next Season is to try to create a more cohesive team by improving their technical and tactical skills.Β
