It is with great pleasure that we announce that our community achieved the first weekly goal of the new Strava Challenge! JCU Athletics club is composed of 45 active members, including 19 current Students, 20 Staff Members, and 6 Alumni who reached 172 hours total of physical activity.
We believe that physical activity is linked with positive health outcomes. According to the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, Adults should do at least 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) to 300 minutes (5 hours) a week of moderate-intensity, or 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes) to 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) a week of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity, or an equivalent combination of moderate and vigorous-intensity aerobic activity
Every member performed about 4 hours a week, and this is a demonstration that we are a healthy community.
Besides, we also care about the environment, and we know that everyone can make the difference! For this reason, JCU Grassroots club is currently helping us by calculating the amount of saved carbon dioxide emissions and saved trees.
Finally, we almost double the first-week goal, and JCU Community Service and Stand will deliver the first donation to Vo.Re.Co. and Chiesa di S. Lucia del Gonfalone.
Below you can check the final ranking with all the points that each participant reached during the first-week competition.
Thank you for being part of this challenge and remember that it’s never too late to join us! This week’s group goal will be 120 hours!
