The team won 2nd place of 2025’s Europa League of Universities of Rome Championship

The team won 1st place of 2025’s American College of Greece’s International Sports Festival

 

JCU Women’s Soccer 5vs5 Team competes in the Universities of Rome Championship, which started in 2006.

In 2024, our Gladiators gained the 2nd place in the toughest and most challenging season.

In 2014/2015, our Gladiators won the Tournament and became the first American university to ever win it. In 2016/2017, JCU replicated the incredible feat by winning the title again for the second year. In 2017/2018, our ladies had to drop the Title in favor of the University of Foro Italico who won the Tournament, where JCU still earned a respectable second place.

In 2018, our goalkeeper Maria Vittoria Albezzano received the Best Goalkeeper Award for the Season. The same year, Maria Martynovych was awarded Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer.

The year of 2018 also represented an important year for JCU Women’s Soccer 5vs5 team because our Gladiators had the privilege to take part in an international tournament, the ACG International Sports Festival in Athens, Greece. Our ladies definitely stood out during the tournament and brought home an amazing 2nd place.
