On July 16th, the JCU gym transformed into more than just a space for sports and fitness — it became a classroom for life-saving knowledge.
Our Athletics staff and student assistants participated in a BLSD (Basic Life Support and Defibrillation) course, dedicating four hours to mastering essential emergency response techniques. From learning how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, to practicing the use of a defibrillator, the session provided hands-on training that could make a real difference — both inside and outside the gym.
Knowing how to recognize the symptoms early and act quickly can save a life — and that’s exactly what our team is now prepared to do.

The training also included how to properly perform the Heimlich maneuver — a simple but powerful technique to respond to choking emergencies.
We’re proud of our Gladiators staff for stepping up, not just on the court, but in the community.
